Headquarters of the Roman Fort Divitia, 4th–5th Century AD

The center of the fort with the headquarters and the residence of its commander was highlighted by rows of columns flanking the main street (Via Praetoria). The commanding officer and his staff were in charge of a garrison of about 1,000 men. The course of the Roman via praetoria (marked in red) is still clearly visible in the aerial photograph.
