Railway Turntable Substructure of the Bergisch-Märkische railway, 19th Century
Since 1845, Deutz had been the starting point of two railway lines, including the Bergisch-Märkische Railway running between Cologne and Giessen. The associated terminus station was located on the eastern bank of the Rhine. During excavations in 2010, the substructure of the station's turntable came to light. It was necessary for turning the locomotives.
